Course Description
The centerpiece of this course is community. Developing a writer’s community is crucial to the success of this course. Students will learn to critique each other’s work by fostering an atmosphere of mutual respect and courtesy.
The framework of the course is the Hero’s Journey. Students will learn to foster their unique writing talents by reading some of the best work in a particular genre, then writing pieces of their own. Each student will store digital copies of their work in a portfolio they create with EverNote.
The year will culminate with a class-produced short film.
