Course Description

This course is designed for students who can write a strong paragraph and understand plot and detail when reading independently.  The course will focus on reading literary award-winning books to learn how to interpret the deeper meaning of themes and objects used by authors.  Students will exercise their writing muscles with weekly journal entries, as well as, write poetry, short stories, essays, and create other projects in response to reading.

Course Requirements

  • Class assignments and other communication will be conducted via Google classroom.  Students will receive an invite to join the class page at the beginning of the year.
  • Students will complete weekly reading and journal assignments.
  • Students will be given a composition notebook and folder to keep class materials organized.
  • One longer writing piece or project will be assigned at the conclusion of each novel/book.
